A Quick Guide to the WoW Level Zones
If you’re a newbie to World of Warcraft, then you probably know that the game involves exploring a huge virtual world, called Azeroth, during which you go on various adventures. Just like our world, the World of Warcraft is divided into different areas; in the game these areas are called WoW level zones since they provide an opportunity to go leveling. At present there are four major continents in Azeroth: the Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Northrend and Outland, each of which has its own WoW level zones.
Wow Level Zones Territories
Each continent is also divided into different territories depending on the status of the players’ PvP flags.
In an Allliance Territory, Horde players will find their PvP flags turned on, allowing them to be attacked by an Alliance player at any time.
In the Horde Territories, the opposite is true: the PvP flags of Alliance players will be turned on, allowing them to be attacked by Horde players.
Note that in both of these territories it is not relevant whether or not you are on a PvP server.
Contested Territories are zones on PvP servers in which all players PvP flags are turned on, permitting attacks between members of opposing factions. Although some of these zones are affiliated with various factions, more of them either favor both or none of the factions.
In Combat Zones, all players are flagged for PvP combat, even if they are in a PvE realm.
Sanctuaries are areas where PvP is disabled for all players. However, players can still be attacked by monsters which are not PvP NPCs if they aggravate them.
Wow Level Zones Continents
The Eastern Kingdoms consist of three continents – Azeroth, Lordaeron and Khaz Modan – and are home to the races of humans, dwarves, gnomes, blood elves, the undead, worgen as well as a few remaining high elves. Leveling from levels 1 to 85 is possible in this area.
The western counterpart of the Eastern Kingdoms is Kalimdor, and is also divided into three major continents – North Kalimdor, South Kalimdor and Central Kalimdor – and is home to the major races of draenei, night elves, orcs, trolls and tauren as well as minor races such as demons, centaurs, naga and orcs. Leveling from one to eighty-five is also available in Kalimdor.
Wow Level Zones
Northrend is the northernmost continent of Azeroth, and is the home of the evil Scourge as well as being host to the Icecrown Citadel, the seat of the nefarious Lich King. The continent was introduced in the WoW expansion, The Wrath of the Lich King. WoW level zones are available starting at level 58 up to 70.
Outland is an extra-dimensional realm composed of the shattered remnants of the red planet Draenor, the home of the orcs as well as the being the refuge of the draenei. Outland is also the current home of Illidan Stormrageand and his men. WoW level zones in this area are available from level 68 up to eighty.
In addition, there is The Great Sea between the different continents. There are three WoW level zones within the Sea where leveling is possible: Kezan (levels 1-6); the Lost Isles (6 to 15) and Vashj’ir (78-82).
